Grade 3 ABRSM Piano Scales List

Here is a Grade 3 ABRSM scales list for the current syllabus for face to face examinations. In my experience, most pupils do not have the time to practice all of the set scales for the exam every day. Therefore, the attached scale list provides them with the opportunity to practice approximately a third of their scales each day.

I have found that it is best to add a scale such as B minor or B flat major arpeggio into every day as these scales could be weaker than others and therefore require a little more attention.

It is wise to suggest to your pupils to change the order that they practice the scales within each day otherwise they become reliant on them only being played in a particular order. Obviously in an exam situation they have to be able to play them randomly.

The metronome mark for each category is a general guide as shown in the ABRSM syllabus.
